Essential Settings You Must Have To Do After Installing Wordpress

Hey Guys! Have you installed the wordpress? As installing the wordpress is very easy task for you after reading HOW TO INSTALL WORDPRESS. There are some Essential settings you must have to do after installing wordpress, As these helps to improve site speed (improves your site ranking), improves your site's security and many more.

The setting to do after installing wordpress are:

1.Remove the Dummy contents

The first thing you need to do is to remove the default contents like dummy comments, dummy posts & dummy page too. It also includes dummy plugins. It can be done by following  simple steps given below.

  • Just login to your wordpress go to dashboard and click on pages then All Pages. There you show the image as given below:





then just move the cursor over the sample page and lastly, click on Trash button to remove page.


  • To delete default post, just click on Posts >All posts, there you find the "HELLO WORLD" post then simply click on it and do the same as before click on Trash button to remove it. 



  • There is dummy comment also,and to delete it, simply click the ‘Comments’ on the wordpress dashboard and move your cursor to the comment "Mr Wordpress" and click on Trash to remove it.


  • To remove dummy plugin,just go to Plugins > Installed Plugins there find the plugin titled "Hello Dolly" and click "Delete" it will take you to the next screen (for the confirmation), then click "Yes, Delete these files" and this will delete the plugin files.


2. Change the default 'Wordpress Permalinks' 


The wordpress provides its default permalinks, but to improve your website, so that it come in the top of search engine you need to change it.Simply, go to settings click "Permalinks".



There you can select any structure from the given list which yo wish or you can also write your own structure using "Custom" option. But my suggestion for you is to use 'Post name' only.

3. Akismet Activation

Akismet is the plugin which comes with the WordPress. This plugin helps to clean your comments  folder just by simlpy sending all of the spam comment in the spam folder without your interaction. To activate it,  you need an API key which you can get from Akismet's official site Click Here . Don't worry about it, because it is free, simply, go to Akismet Configuration and enter the API key to your wordpress to activate it.


4.Change your time zone


In wordpress the default time zone is different from your's time zone, so you need to change it. It is very easy task to do. First, Go to Settings > General and here you should have to check all of the values and make sure your 'site-title' and 'tagline' are up to date. Now, change the time Zone which matches your country's time zone. If you have scheduled your blog posts, then changing the time zone default to your time zone will ensure that your blog posts will be published in your desired schedule time.



5.SEO Plugin Installation


Have you heard SEO? SEO PLUGINS    This plugin is very essential as it helps your website to come at the top of search engine. There are number of SEO plugin like SEO ultimate, All in one SEO, SEOpressor, WordPressSEO by Yoast.You can choose any one from them. My suggestion is to use SEO by Yoast.

6.Installing A Backup Plugin


In today's world online Hacking is common thing, so you need to be secure keeping the backup of your plugins. It can also be done automatically, by simply installing a backup plugin. This plugin will backup all your blogs information and you can also set the frequency of it same as your blog's posting frequency. Some of the backup plugins Backupbuddy, Backwpup,  Wordpress backup to Dropbox.

7. Make User Profile


If you want the people to know about you then you should have to setup user's profile and also they can connect with you for their enquiries, feedback etc. Go to Users > Your Profile from your wordpress, you can also add different names for the post you have published. You can add your biographical information and display your picture as profile picture by simply signing up for the "Free Gravatar account".

8. Install The Social Sharing Plugin


Social Sharing Plugin is essential for the good exposure of your site to the social sites. You can make large amount of traffic from the social networking site like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp. There are few number of social sharing plugins which are comes highly recommended and if one of them is added to your site, then you can have a great chance to increase your readers and they can also share your content with their friends and followers. Some of the sharing buttons Digg Digg, Shareaholic, Easy Social Share Buttons For WordPress helps you to increase your readers.
